Golden Thread Productions is dedicated to exploring Middle Eastern cultures and identities as expressed around the globe. We present alternative perspectives of the Middle East by developing and producing theatrical work that is aesthetically varied and politically and viscerally engaging, while supporting countless Middle Eastern artists in all phases of their careers. Our work builds cultural bridges by engaging the community in an active dialogue. Our mission is to make the Middle East a potent presence on the American stage and also to make theatre a treasured cultural experience within Middle Eastern communities.

Golden Thread premiered Jihad Jones & Kalashnikov Babes in San Francisco in 2008 and will remount the production in Los Angeles at the Pasadena Playhouse in 2010.

Fairytale Players – Join the Ensemble

Golden Thread's Fairytale Players is an ensemble that creates and performs a repertory of short plays based on children's stories from the Middle East. The group began rehearsing in January 2008 and is now ready to 2 performers to the ensemble to study as back ups for our current show and stay on to develop the next piece.

We are looking for performers who enjoy ensemble created theatre and can commit to workshops and performances over the next 2 years. Our goal is to have every member of the ensemble know every part so that the ensemble can cover for individual actors having conflicts/vacations.

We currently meet Wednesday and Sunday mornings, 9 am-1pm, in Oakland. We begin our tour of schools and libraries in April and continue through the summer and possibly the fall. Many of the performances are during the day. The performance schedule is light right now (2-3 per month) but we are working hard to secure more gigs.

After we begin performances in April, we may reduce the number of rehearsals to one per week.

Currently, the performers receive a small fee for each performance. We are trying to secure funding to pay the ensemble on an ongoing basis during the creative and performance periods.

If you are available and interested, please contact me right away. We're working on a great play right now and would love to have you join in.
