Golden Thread Productions is seeking
AEA and non-AEA actor submissions for our 2027 season:

Audition Dates

• General Auditions and Nubian Stories auditions will take place in person on Sunday, November 8, 2026 by appointment between 10am to 6pm.
• El-Manshiyyeh & Summer Show TBA auditions will take place in person on Monday, November 9, 2026 by appointment between 2pm to 10pm.
• Callbacks will be scheduled by appointment.

Seeking

For Nubian Stories we are seeking:

• A middle-aged Black woman
  Full of energy, confident, intense, exuberant, hilarious, and extroverted. She also holds the deep sadness of loss and time’s passage
• MUSICIAN (non-speaking instrumentalist) - Oud Player or Percussionist
  Familiarity with Middle Eastern, African, and/or Nubian music preferred.

For El-Manshiyyeh, Summer Show TBA, and our New Threads Series, we are seeking:

• An ensemble of actors of MENA descent.
  Folks who have familiarity with Palestine and Iran are highly encouraged to submit.

Contract

• Equity and non-equity actors are invited to audition. Local (Bay Area) actors are encouraged to submit.
• Bay Area Theatre $404 weekly (20 hours/week, Intro Tier) or $20.20/hour.

Location

• The Annex, Potrero Stage, 1695 18th Street, San Francisco, CA.

Sabila, a Nubian woman who was forcibly relocated from her village in the south of Egypt due to its intentional flooding for the construction of the Aswan High Dam, tells the story of her people through her own incredible biography as well as through the ancient Nubian folkloric tales.

The Empire

Inspired by the real-life story of a man imprisoned for eight years at Guantánamo Bay, adapted from detailed accounts originally written by his lawyer, Joshua Colangelo-Bryan.Drawing on interviews with a wide range of voices connected to Guantánamo, The Empire*, based on Joshua Colangelo-Bryan’s book,* Through the Gates of Hell: American Injustice at Guantánamo Bay*, weaves together a mosaic of perspectives spanning Cuba, the United States, Bahrain, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. Through this lens, Majumdar seeks to illuminate the human, political, and moral dimensions of American Imperialism and Presence around the world.*
